Inspector General – Investiture

The Investiture of V.Ill.Bro. Paul Tarrant, 33o as Inspector General for the District of South Essex took place on 13th February, 2017 at Saxon Hall, Southend on Sea.

V∴Ill∴Bro. Paul Tarrant 33o was Invested in a ceremony conducted in an exemplary manner by the Sovereign Grand Commander M∴P∴Bro. Alan Englefield 33o and his team, and to the great delight of all present. I am pleased to say that all the Chapters in the District of South Essex were represented.

The Meeting was attended by six members of Supreme Council together with the Grand Directors of Ceremonies and a team of Supreme Council Officers. There were also many Heads of Orders present along with many Inspectors General and their respective District Recorders representing various Districts. Our own R.W.Provincial Grand Master Rodney Bass attended and was particularly welcomed by the Sovereign Grand Commander M∴P∴Bro. Alan Englefield 33o. He was invited to take part in the Third Point along with members of the Supreme Council, members of the host Chapter -Thames Estuary Chapter No 634 and reigning Sovereigns of South Essex Chapters.

Approximately 200 members attended the Investiture and 160 people enjoyed the festive board in the Jubilee Suite to celebrate this truly memorable occasion. Our Inspector General made a special gift presentation of a Decanter to the Sovereign Grand Commander, and presented additional smaller gifts to members of the Investiture team. These were very well received by all and the Sovereign Grand Commander responded with the presentation of a gift to Bro. Paul.

The Sovereign Grand Commander and the Inspector General acknowledged the great debt of gratitude we all owe to Ill∴ Bro. Mike Robinson, retiring District Recorder, for guiding the District through the difficult times resulting from the sad loss of two Inspectors General in quick succession and keeping the District running smoothly. The Inspector General presented Bro. Mike with a beautiful pen as a token of appreciation.

Your newly appointed Inspector General, our retiring District Recorder and I thank you all most sincerely for the enthusiastic support we have received for this very special day. Special thanks also to the Most Wise Sovereign, Recorder and members of the host Chapter – Thames Estuary Chapter No 634 who conducted an excellent meeting.

Last but by no means least, grateful thanks to Robert Potter and his team at Saxon Hall for ensuring that everything ran like clockwork.
